OUR STORY
Pickle & Co Pet Care is a dog walking and pet feeding company founded by Jenny & James, with our little Pomeranian dog Pickle and her friends in mind. We both used to work long hours in London, meaning that our dog, cats and chickens would have been left alone all day. For us, the importance of a trusted dog walker and pet carer was one of the most crucial things that enabled us to go to work and not worry.
In 2018, we left our careers as a Fashion Agent and Graphic Designer to set up Pickle & Co. After studying Level 2 Canine Care, Training & Management at Writtle University for a year, Jenny graduated July 2019 with a Distinction. In 2020, Jenny studied Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Both of us have a great love for animals. Both being ethical vegans, we try to dedicate as much time as we can volunteering for animal charities and sanctuaries.
During lockdown we helped a hen with a spinal injury to walk again and we named her Miracle Mavis! It was incredible to have a hand in her recovery. She even appeared in The Guardian Newspaper after they wanted to feature a photo of her in her homemade wheelchair. Who better to look after your pets that two true animal lovers!
Pickle & Co has great experience with nervous small breeds, just like Pomeranians, and have cared for small pets such as Rabbits, Hens, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters and Rats. All services we provide come with the highest of animal care and compassion.
We are both proud volunteers for The British Hen Welfare Trust, helping to rehome battery caged hens. We also set up and run The Colchester Pomeranian Club, which meets up every other month in Colchester.

Our fully stocked dog van has air-conditioning, a power shower, first aid and a secure open area as well as individual crates for smaller dogs. We are Fully Insured, DBS checked, Dog & Small Pet First Aid trained, can administer prescription drugs to animals.

The Colchester Gazette featured Pickle & Co Pet Care in articles published in April 2024 and August 2023, as one of the top 4 best rated dog walkers in Colchester.
Interviewed live on air by BBC Essex' Rob Jelly in August 2022 about all things Pickle & Co.
Awarded Best Vegan Pet Care Service Award 2021 - South East of England at the Global Vegan Awards 2021.
In June 2020 The Guardian featured our disabled hen Mavis in their article about battery hens being rescued from slaughter. At the time Mavis was in our homemade wheelchair and after intense physio with us, she learnt to walk again.
